As current Army operation figures show the average casualty rate for a battalion in Afghanistan or Iraq is 14%, the ABF's World's Biggest Curry Lunch is launched at the Mansion House to raise much needed funds.

The World’s Biggest Curry Lunch was launched on Wednesday 16 January at Mansion House in the face of increasing need for support from soldiers.

The annual World’s Biggest Curry Lunch aims to invite everyone across the UK to host a curry lunch or dinner for family, friends and colleagues, in return for a donation to the ABF.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London will be hosting his own Lord Mayor's Curry Lunch for 1,000 people on Thursday 24 April 2008 in Guildhall Yard, London and aims to raise awareness of the ABF’s work.

Former TA soldier Jason Sylvestre, a recipient of ABF support, who suffered long term back injuries during his first operational tour of duty in Iraq, joined the Lord Mayor of the City of London and his Committee of leading business and city figures, Members of 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and a fleet of Snatch Land Rovers at the press launch.

The World’s Biggest Curry Lunch is supported by many famous names including Chef Gary Rhodes, England rugby player Josh Lewsey, TV Presenter Fern Britton, actor Ewan McGregor and famous author, curry connoisseur and founder of the Curry Club, Pat Chapman, who are all backing the event and urging people to get involved.
