Do you need our help?
There are a few simple steps to getting help from The Soldiers’ Charity.
If you are still serving contact your Regimental or Corps Association who will then approach us for a grant.
If you are a former soldier then follow these simple steps.
Step 1
Our casework is undertaken by trained volunteers from SSAFA Forces Help and The Royal British Legion
Your local branch of either charity is your first port of call.
Step 2
Your caseworker will get in touch with the relevant Regimental or Corps Association
Step 3
The Association will approach us for a grant.
We act quickly, aiming to get the money to you within 24 hours.
Throughout your application remember that our Welfare Team are here for you.

Who is eligible?
- Members and former members of the British Regular Army and the Reserve Army (TA).
- Dependant spouses and children of the above.
- Please note: Serving TA soldiers must have completed at least one year’s satisfactory service, and former TA soldiers should have completed at least three years’ satisfactory service. Length of service will not be taken into account if the soldier has served on an operational tour, has previously completed a period of Regular or National Service, or if death, injury or distress has arisen from any action or incident on duty.
